Why use Carbon Fiber in Custom Handcrafted Bicycles & Frames?

Carbon Fiber bikes are extremely light weight and agile.

Carbon is heated to high temperatures to remove all other elements except the carbon. Most carbon fiber used in handmade bikes has a stiffness of 33 million pounds per square inch (MSI).Tensile modulus is a measurement of stiffness and are usually 33 MSI, 42 MSI or 55+ MSI carbon fiber. The grade of carbon fiber is determined by the modulus of the fiber and can be regular (PAN), Intermediate (IM) or High.

33 MSI - Carbon Fiber- PAN Polyacrylanitrile fiber is usually 33 MSI carbon fiber.

42 MSI - IM Carbon Fiber - Intermediate Modulus fiber is a denser form of carbon fiber. IM fiber custom bikes use less carbon material yet provide the same tensile modulus (stiffness) resulting in a lighter bike frame structure.

55+ MSI - High Modulus Carbon Fiber - High Modulus fiber frames are even denser making the bicycle even lighter. Genuine High Modulus carbon fiber bike frames and are in the range of 55+ MSI and are stronger than High Tensile T-700 Carbon Fiber.
